The title mother is a privilege, an honor, a divine calling. It is where I’ve most grown as an individual. Some people view mothers in a box. They’re right I guess. I mean, a pregnant woman becomes a liability for many companies and a mother often pushes her goals and dreams to the side as she tries to cater to her children and spouse. Within that sentence alone, being a mother sounds very narrow and restricted, right? Wrong. That sentence depicts a mother that is selfless, compassionate and very responsible.
Somehow, I don’t know how… But you spontaneously inherit a list of qualities, talents and skills when you become a Mom. This includes dramatic emotions, dormant strengths, unusual weaknesses and a surprisingly new body. Sounds like an inheritance of wealth to me! Regardless of the much suffering with bearing children and protesting “I’m never doing this again!”, we continue to be constructive and optimistic with our lives. How is that done? Well, we mothers live by the proverb “it was all worth it”. This proverb creates positivity and restores strength, the next thing you know you’ve hit the jackpot with more positive influence, one that looks like this (+) lol. True story, it happened to me. :/ Second time around I was grumbling “this can’t be happening to me again?!” and yes my experience ended with the proverb “it was all worth it!”. 🙂
Being a mother is an opportunity. It is an opportunity to reach high potential. It is an opportunity to serve. It is an opportunity to create life.
It is an opportunity to create more opportunities.
The transition to motherhood is a forever changing process. It has taught me to stretch far beyond the circumference to boundlessness. In fact, Motherhood has increased my love and respect for life. I sometimes like to sit and let my mind drift into the simple things of life and appreciate everything around me. Look outside, go on… do it… now, what do you see?… Trees, buildings, cars, concrete, street lights, people, and more?. Isn’t it amazing? uh.. amazing? Yes! amazing, like the things that are readily available to us. I think it’s wonderful. My thoughts of these accessible things invariably takes me to a realm of links, relationships and connection. Everything you see outside your window connects to you and your crucial role as a mother. How?
Think deeper… One of the many dormant qualities I discovered since becoming a Mom is being a deep thinker.
I won’t dive into the deep part too much because that requires a lot of typing for me and a long read for you. But on the shallow end, every child or adult was born and belongs to a mother and as a whole we’ve planted trees and flowers, accumulated skills and ideas to build houses, businesses and unthinkable technology, just to name a few. Such contribution, little or big, helps our society advance and function. This kind of progression is only possible with the existence of the human race and it starts from a mother giving birth. Are you following me? Great!
It’s a simple thought but complex at the same time as you sit and put all the dots together. The wonderful things in life exists because of mothers. This is a prime example of mothers being an opportunity to create opportunity. Putting myself into this mind frame helps me to understand more about motherhood and the importance of “Mother” in our society.
This is only one of my recent thoughts and I wanted to share it with you in the hope that you take the time to appreciate your role as a mother and connect the dots, the dots of why you’re so valuable.
